Haha, I have a big autobio written out just for this occasion.
-----
Way back when, in the Super NES era, I came across a game called Super Mario World. I thought, Hooway! Mawio! and began to play. I came across a strange green dinosaur we all know and love today as Yoshi. I was immediately in love. Then my mom bought me my own SNES with the game and I couldnt have been happier. YAY MOMMEE I WUB YU DANK YU!!
I loved to draw and I wanted to draw Yoshi so bad, but nothing ever came out right. Until I actually picked up the box and looked at the art. I drew Yoshi perfectly (in my eyes at the time, haha). I decided to add a cape to him and make him Super Yoshi. Oh, my childish wit. How adorable.
Anyway! Later, I played Yoshis Story and I was even more captivated. I made characters according to each yoshi from the game. I made Toshi, the light blue yoshi and also the oldest out of them. I decided to have the others be siblings to Toshi, Trenshi (yellow) Chichi (pink) and Donshi (red). I hadnt played it until 6th grade, but I saw screenshots of Boshi in SMRPG and used him as well as Yoshi for the remaining two (blue and green respectively).
After many crappy drawings, I finally came upon the wonderous INTERNET. I found a site called The Cutest Little Yoshi Page on the Web and saw a comic made by Luna. I began searching the internet for the continuation of it (since it was just one comic with a tobecontinued ending). I never did find it until about one or two years ago, haha. But what I did find were wonderful sites (Yoshi Station and Yoshiart) and artists(Rob* [I think] and Yoshiru Ferrari). I saw one of Robs* pictures of an anthropomorphic yellow yoshi with a basketball outfit and such. That inspired me to make my yoshis anthro.
I was also inspired by Yoshirus pic of a yoshi with Links outfit. I loved the outfit so much that I used it on Toshi. The hat stayed with him even though his outfit changed several times, the backstory of it being that it was given to him by Link after he went back in time via a time machine made by Professor E Gadd.
Anyway, I found that those sites were dying except for Yoshiart. Eventually, I accidentally came across the forums of that site. Yoshis Corner. My fandom sky rocketed to the point that I practically worshiped Yoshi, haha. Mainly because I never communicated with anyone who shared the same love for Yoshi as I did. I found new artists such as Koshizu, Anjil, Coral, Toshi, and many others who I came to adore and I also made some good friends. The Toshi I mentioned was another totally different one haha. I ended up being nicknamed Ice to avoid confusion and eventually Blizzard.
Eventually, I was pressured into thinking that fanart wasnt going to get me anywhere, and my fandom started to die, nearly completely. Toshi and all that was in his storyline I changed to be more original so I could sell the books. He became known as Seth. My Kirby character as well, now Kiba. Sid, my Irken character I completely dumped since he was mainly an RP character with not much story, poor guy.
I also disappeared from the forums. That was probably one of the worst mistakes Ive ever made. I decided spontaneously to return one day, only to find most of my idols and friends had left for one reason or another. I stayed awhile, but eventually up and left completely. I decided to go to another forum that I had visited not too long ago called the Aurorium. It too was pretty dead, but I found their forum chat and got into it. Thats where I am today.
My interest in yoshi was rekindled when I found some of Lunas art that inspired me to draw in the first place. I was guilt-stricken and though, My Godwhatve I DONE!? I then told myself that I was going to get back into the yoshi spirit I once had. I remembered a yoshi character I had made a while back just for the occasion that I would stop using Toshi as my yoshi alias. You all know him now as Shoe. And thats my story.
However, I never truly scrapped my love for yoshi. When I made my Yoshi Story characters, I had a backstory for them which is now my life project. The first chapters of the first book is really Yoshis Story. Now its more original and I no longer use Nintendo characters, but the general idea is still the same.
The six siblings are chased out of their village after the villagers begin acting strangely and the island is cast under a spell. Seth is separated from his siblings and finds his way to a tower (based on a level in the third chapter of Yoshis Story) which holds a young girl (The white yoshi in the fanfic) who was imprisoned by a man named Seven (Inviso in the fan fic). He frees her and they eventually reunite with the others.
In the end, they make it to the fortress and find that a rouge magician (Baby Bowser in the fan fic) who separated himself from his fathers kingdom after they had made a truce with the mainland was stealing the life of a grand tree (The Super Happy Tree in the fan fic) that was the life source of the island. They defeated him and restored the tree, thus returning the island to normal.
You can see the similarities between the game Yoshis Story and that bit of the first book. Theres much more in that one book following those events, but youll just have to wait until I publish it and buy it to read for youselves~
Thats is, the history of my Yoshi fandom. Ill never part from it again.
