I'm not big on the online play. The only thing I'll really use it for is matches with my friends when we're too lazy to go to each other's houses xD

I can't wait for it, strictly for four player battle. My friends and I ALWAYS plays Melee, all the time. It's a wonderful party game.

I think the new powerup things, in all honestly, are just a gimmick to get more people to buy it. I'm not all that excited about getting a coin and doing a super move.. I hope they have a setting that lets you remove it, because this is what will happen with that feature on. "WHAT THE FUCK YOU LUCKY BITCH I HAD YOU THAT GAME! YOU ARE SO FUCKING LUCKY YOU GOT THAT HOMELESS POWER COIN!" So yeah, boo to power ups :P

I'm not excited for many of the new characters either, I'm just gonna stick with good ol Yoshi. He owns, and always will own. Hardcore :3 I don't even know who Pit is >> I don't play RPGs.

Whatever it is, it's just gonna be a free kill :P And free kills are gonna get obnoxious really fast in versus mode.

It'll be fun to use it in the single player mode, though.

The only good pokemon in the Smash series is Jigglypuff :P Pikachu is ok, but even if you master him there are plenty of better characters, Jigglypuff being one of them.

Jiggypuff is a high tier character o.O One of the best players in the world uses Jigglypuff. Go look him up on youtube, his alias is King.

I rest my case with this video King (Jigglypuff) vs Ken (Marth). This is a good demonstration about why Jigglypuff is so good. Matching up any short range character (Jigglypuff, Dr. Mario, Pikachu, etc.) against Marth is absolutely HORRID because Marth's sword has SO much range. As you can see, all he has to do is swing it and Jigglypuff can't get near him. Watch the video to the end, Jigglypuff wins, I promise. No, it wasn't luck, it was skill, because that move is so difficult to land.

Ken is one of the best Marth players in the world.

Fox, Falco, Jigglypuff, Marth, Link, Captain Falcon, and Ganondorf are high tier characters. They're collectively the best players to use in the game once you master them.

Pikachu, Dr. Mario, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi are middle tier characters. These are used often, but not as much a s high tier characters and are only very good once perfected.

Everyone else is a low tier character, and even when mastered and perfected they won't hold up well in an official tournament (talking about the matches that King, Fumi, etc.) play in. It's not to say they're bad, it just means that even if you're amazing with them, you won't get through against someone just as amazing with a high or middle tier character.

And actually, the collectively worst character in the game is MewTwo :P

Believe me, we play Smash a -lot- x3 You will come to find that most all American Smash teams suck it big compared to those in Japan.

Whether or not it happens once per game, it will equate to a one hit kill. It would be an awful addition if it didn't do massive amount of percent damage to the player. Even if it didn't kill you, it would leave you about 150 - 200% damage, and that's pretty much a one hit kill.

I'm sorry, but any good player will kill you between 150 and 200%, unless you play on BS levels like Hyrule Castle and Big Blue. We're talking 1 on 1 Final Destination. All it takes is a neutral kick...I promise you will never reach 250% in pro matches.

Let me ask you, do you know what wave dashing it? You better. What about Wave Shining? Edge Shining? Stage Spike? L-Cancel? DI? Pillaring? Edge Guarding? Short-hopping? Do you know why Jigglypuff has the advantage over Fox and Falco? Do you know why Dr. Mario has the advantage over Fox and Falco? Do you know about the super wave dash glitch? Do you know why Ice Climbers is the best character in the game THEORETICALLY?

All these things are very basic for going from "Good." to "Better" at the game. I hope you understand and can answer each and every one of them, though I assume you can't considering you don't know who the top players in Smash Bros. are, nor do you know the tier ranking. Any goomba who plays Smash above the "I got good at it." level knows all these people and studies their matches to learn moves and even discover new ones.

And no, just cause his nick is "King" doesn't mean he's good, holding out against the best players in the world makes him good. I can promise you those matches aren't stage, who the hell would stage a smash bros. fight anyway? Names don't have much bearing on whether or not you're good, but names are always associated with good players, duh. Bombsoldier (Falco) Ken (Marth) King (Jigglypuff) Fumi (Yoshi)...just a few of the people at the top.

No? Short-hopping, edge guarding, and L-Cancelling are MAJOR factors in playing the game better.. edge-guarding gives you the possibility of killing them faster, giving you the lead. L-Cancelling gives you less time needed to recover, making combos and blocks faster. Short hopping lets you hit with arial attacks quickly when the other player is still on ground, most importantly, the neutral kick. Those three are OVERLY SIGNIFICANT. If you knew what all those things I mentioned were, you would know how overly significant they are =\

Removing the random factor is fun for most people, that way the game is based on skill with no luck factor involved. You are limited to using the characters abilities to the maximum in order to win, and sadly some are better than others.

Long levels (Yes, BS levels.) are fun for messing around, especially with items. And when we turn on items and just fool around, we play on random. But when we're dueling in 2v2 or 1v1 matches, it's Final Destination only, SOMETIMES we MAY play Corneria just to switch things up.

It only make the gameplay flawed if you try to use a terrible non-random factor character (like Game & Watch) against a high tier, really good non-random factor character (like Falco). High tier vs high tier, middle tier vs middle tier, and even high tier vs middle tier are always fair matches, I'm sorry if you aren't good with any of those characters, but that's not my fault. Where's the fun in being good at one character anyway? Have one specialty high tier or middle tier character, then just learn how to use all the others really well, even low tier.

It's fun in a different way, tournament way. Some people enjoy using the random shit in the game, and others don't like it. Tournament play does all it can to reduce random factor so that its a skill only match, and that's how we like to play.

Well of course, not, there's random factor involved and I don't care HOW good you are, random factor is called RANDOM FACTOR for a reason, no amount of skill will keep your alive. If you get hit by random factor, you will die or survive. You cannot dodge random factor because it's RANDOM.

The skill it takes to stay alive on FD is different than the skill it takes to use items. In my experience, it takes very ,very little time and effort to be good at using items. I learned how to use items in a matter.. of maybe a month or two. They aren't that complicated, they aren't difficult to learn.

I still can't do half the shit those other guys do in 1v1 matches, and like it or not, tournament play is based around giving the players the absolute most even odds of winning the game. If that includes a stationary, unchanging stage with equal edges all the way around and zero items, then that's what it includes. That's tournament play and those rules have been determined, by both players and creators alike, to involve the highest level of "dueling skill" (not to be confused with survival skill, as you need with items and such) possible. Me and my friends duel. Dueling with items is bullshit because it makes winning easier. Dueling on Big Blue is bullshit because it makes winning easier. Being able to not fall down on that level amounts to being able to dodge every attack thrown at you.

I call them BS levels for specifically that reason, they make it easier to win. All you have to do to kill someone on Big Blue is shield grab them at the back half of the screen and throw them off, you can't recover since the screen moves so fast. Hyrule Castle is a BS level because you can side smash them at 300% and they can go all the way across the level without dieing. You can hide out in that little alcove below the stage and make being killed righteously impossible to do. Not cause you have any skill in avoiding attack, but simply because hits are blocked by the awkward stage above.

In essence, nearly every single level aside from Final Destination has some little quirk about it that result in a definite kill even at 0%, that's not fun.

I stopped playing with Jigglypuff when my friend played Fox or Falco because the game was never, ever fun for him. All I did was run around the stage trying to shieldgrab him the whole time. When I did, I just threw him into the air and rested him, boom, instant KO, even on Final Destination. That's not fun, so I don't do it anymore.

It's much easier to kill people on Big Blue...and in fact, on Hyrule Castle it can be to. Since the levels are so long the side edges are short, really short. You could kick someone up to 100%, stand on the edge, and backthrow them to their death..

The problem is that no one does that, everyone hangs out in that stupid alcove because they know they can't unless they magically miss every wall.

The problem isn't that it's easier to survive on Hyrule Temple.. the problem is that it's easier for shitty players to stay alive on it. You don't even need any skill to hang out on the bottom of the stage, and still you will live well past 200% simply because bouncing off the walls keeps you alive, not because you're any good at the game.

Having to adapt to random factors ultimately just limits the players abilities to perform to their fullest. Always worrying about being able to dodge a random factor or getting an opponent into a combo, only to be interrupted by a random factor (like the incoming lasers on Corneria...god) limits your abilities. On final Destination, you can do all the moves and combos you wants, because the only thing that's gonna stop you is the other person.

Exactly my point, and those advantages (commonly standing on the edge of the stage and just tossing the other off for a lower percent kill) make the game very dull and boring when they're the only thing people are doing. It's one thing to be fighting, then suddenly realize you can use this part of the stage, and another to just run there and stand there and refuse to move until the other comes to fight you. Since every just runs under the stage on Hyrule Castle, it's not fun because no amount of skill can help you win down there, it's all a matter of how the player will react off the walss, which is pretty uncontrollable by the player. Everyone that plays on Big Blue will just stand at the edge of the screen and wait for the other player.. mind you, these aren't the only two stages like this.

You shouldn't be able to exploit the stage to your advantage, that's boring and leads to practically free kills. You can't exploit Final Destination, in fact, the only exploitation on it is a stage spike, and that's not very easy to do, so no one tries it.
